Meet our Kindergarten teachers!

Ms. Delaney

Hello my name is Kendra Delaney and I am so excited to join the HERD!  Here is a little bit about myself.  I currently live in Denver with my beautiful daughter Samara.  We love to go on adventures, anything from exploring the mountains, exploring new places, heading to the movies, or just taking walks, we are always up to something.  I currently have a BA in Human Development and Family Studies with the emphasis in Early Childhood Education, and my Speech Language Pathology Assistant certification.  I have been in DCSD for 10 years, the first 8 years I was a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant.  Throughout my time as an SLPA I realized I wanted to expand my career, this is when I noticed I was always the happiest when I was helping in the classrooms.  This is when I joined the preschool program within the district as an Early Childhood Instructor.  During my 2 years as a preschool teacher I received my teaching licenses, which brought me to BRE as a Kindergarten teacher.  I could not be any more excited!  I cannot wait to see what this year will bring!

Miss Winkler

Hi!  My name is Sam Winkler and I am thrilled to be joining the kindergarten team at Buffalo Ridge this year!  This will be my first year teaching kindergarten, but over the last eight years I have also taught preschool, preschool special education, and K-2 special education.  I have my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Iowa as well as my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado Denver.

I am a Colorado native and grew up here in Douglas County.  I now live in Castle Rock with my fiance, Michael, and our dog and cat, Raffi and Lacey.  When I'm not teaching one of my favorite things to do is travel, but am also quite content being at home.  At home, I enjoy baking, crafting, gardening, playing board games, and reading.  When I travel, one of my favorite places to go is to a small lake in Minnesota that I grew up going to with my extended family.  I have also been to China, Costa Rica, New Zealand, and Georgia (the country!).  Each place I visit helps me to learn more about myself and others and deepens my appreciation and understanding for different cultures and points of view.

I'm looking forward to a wonderful year and am so excited to get to know the students, families, and staff at BRE!
